Visitor Policy

Interview with Mickey, Nate, Anne and Erik

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Mickey: 2 days a week I think
Nate: Twice a week.
Anne: Two 30 min visits per week
Erik: Visiting is held a few days a week depending on your pod and classification. Many times this can be further restricted when lockdowns are in effect.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Mickey: Yes.
Nate: Nobody came to see me.
Anne: Not too bad sometimes up to an hour
Erik: From what I heard it is a little time consuming but rather simple. If you have been in the facility as an inmate in the last 90 days prepare to be turned away.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Mickey: There is a room with about 5 separate plate-glass windows with microphones at each window.
Nate: I don't know.
Anne: Quiet like a medical office
Erik: The visiting rooms are a quick walk up the stairs in most pods. Thick dirty glass seperates you from the visitors and steel mesh impairs the communication so you must talk loud. Definately the bright part of your inmate day, is walking up the stairs to see who hasnt forgot about you.

If this is the iffical site for the Salt lake County Jail than the person who is over the web site should be fired. There is no helpful information on this site at all. Where is all the info? Visiting days? visting times? Inmate accounts for money? How much money can be in account? Who is in charge? Who is in jail and for what? No wonder inmates and their families get frustrated! I see lots of questions but no answers.

My grandson, inmate #332017 at the Salt Lake County Jail has been very ill with probable strep throat for four days. It's been three days since he was able to ask for help; he cannot eat, barely swalow water, and as of an hour ago has not seen a doctor or health care worker, even for Ibuprofen. His mother and I are concerned for his life. Please help!

Hi, I was wondering what can cause a suspension of visits at the jail, would someone be allowed a warning first?

it appears that if you let out multiple sex crime prisoners because of no room, then why couldn't you work with people that havevery minor offences..instead of holding them in jail for a few weeks... especially if none of their family can help them because they are poor
